Portumna

In the Ryans hometown of Portumna, located at the head of Lough Derg on the River Shannon, there are lots of places that have benefited from Sean's interests: Portumna Castle, Portumna Golf Club, Portumna Forest Park to name a few.

We visited the Portumna Forest Park, and drove through Woodford Forest, turning on a road used during the famous and epic march undertaken by O' Sullivan Bere to Leitrim through the Counties of Cork, Limerick, Tipperary, Offaly, Galway, Roscommon, Sligo c 1602. The road was not too bad considering the age of it!

I spent one very cold morning on the shore of Lough Derg photographing Portumna Castle and Portumna Priory.
